On the afternoon of 3rd November, at the Lecture Hall, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Department of the west campus convened the eighth-week all staff’s work meeting.
The meeting consisted of two sessions. In the first place, Teaching Department Director Zhang Li laid emphasis on the matters that need attention during the upcoming mid-term examinations. Considering that the mid-term exam was network paper inspection, Director Zhang Li unscrambled meticulously in regard to possible issues such as exam markers’ account and password settings, submitting request and methods concerning abnormal test papers. In the meantime, Director Zhang Li required all teachers to invigilate with due diligence and remind students to pay attention to the paste position of the bar codes. What’s more, after the mid-term examination, the Junior High Division would hold class situation analysis meeting regarding the 9th grade, which meant that each head teacher and discipline teacher was supposed to be prepared for it. In addition, after getting the score data, each discipline group would proceed examination paper and data analysis in each group’s lesson preparation sessions to find out the problems and figure out the right direction for subsequent work tasks.
In the second place, Principal Assistant Ling Qian carried through periodic work summary report in which he praised the steady and solid advancement of everyone’s recent education teaching work as well as the stable and well-organized development of Anqing Foreign Language School’s various routine work. Thus, Principal Assistant Ling Qian emphasized that details determined success or failure, which played a crucial role in Anqing Foreign Language School’s long-term development. Other than that, Principal Assistant Ling Qian illustrated some issues concerning teachers’ homework assignments, which seemed to be very tiny issues in the usual teaching work. However, did teachers notice the collaboration of different subjects? Did they prepare homework while preparing lessons? Did they pay attention to the rationality and timeliness of homework assignment? Therefore, it was scientific to learn how to assign homework. Afterwards, Principal Assistant Ling Qian asked teachers whether they noticed students who sat at two sides of the front rows when teachers used the multimedia-aided teaching, because students may not be able to see clearly the characters on the big screen due to light reflection. Did teachers make proper handling? On the other hand, as teachers, did you occupy students’ after-class time? As head teachers, did you make meticulous preparations before class meetings? Did you transfer positive energy to students, such as the saying ‘Teaching Is A Process while Education Is Fundamental.’?
To put it in a nutshell, all the matters mentioned above appeared to be small issues. Nonetheless, I figured that if educators could be observant over some insignificant matters, people were bound to feel the inherent spirit of a school. Never ignore small things, for details reveal charm. Only when we complete each petty thing with serious attitude at work, can we create greater value at ordinary posts.
